Listen in as therapists, coaches, writers, and other experts explore the inner lives of women: their struggles, fears, hopes, & dreams. This podcast is about cultivating a conversation around the uncomfortable, uncertain, and unknown aspects of a woman's experience. Through interviews and stories, Lourdes Viado, PhD, MFT goes beneath the surface and takes a deeper look at relationships, motherhood, self-acceptance, authenticity, aging, healing, suffering, loss, and other areas connected to the emotional and psychological well-being of women. We will be cultivating conversation around the entire experience of being a woman, with all its different aspects.

My guest on the podcast this week is Anne Mcarthy Strauss, Anne has been writing since she penciled The Princeton Street News, a weekly report on the lives of her Long Island, New York neighbors, at age ten. Today, she is a versatile novelist, writer, interviewer, researcher and public relations pro who focuses on shelter, alternative healthcare, technology and women’s fiction.

After majoring in Journalism at Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Anne pursued a career in corporate public relations and freelance writing. She is the author of A Medical Affair (Booktrope 2013) and The Passion Thief (Booktrope 2014). Anne lives in Saratoga Springs, New York, with her husband and their two unconditionally loving Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. She is a member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors (ASJA) She appeared on HBO in the film Hard Times: Lost on Long Island (Blowback Productions, 2010). When not writing, she’s likely to be hiking, kayaking, painting, crafting, swimming, or spending time with her dogs.

My guest on the podcast this week features Krysta Dancy, MA, MFT. Krysta is a licensed marriage and family therapist in Roseville, California where she has been working with clients since 2005. In addition to her private practice, she is the Co-Director and Supervisor of a local counseling nonprofit (The Place Within) where she supervises 8-12 interns on their path to licensure. The Place Within offers counseling on a sliding fee scale to those who might otherwise be unable to access counseling. She also keeps a blog and speaks for local groups on some of her favorite psychological topics. She also sometimes functions as a spokesperson for the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT) where she has been a member (and previous board member) since 2005.

Dara is a Licensed Professional Counselor and gender therapist in private practice who works with transgender, gender non-conforming, and gender questioning individuals. She frequently serves as a resource on transgender issues for the media and is a prolific gender-identity thought leader whose articles and videos have empowered thousands worldwide. She provides educational resources through a blog (darahoffmanfox.com), YouTube channel, social media networks, trainings and presentations, and her first publication: You and Your Gender Identity: A Guide to Discovery.
